PCB for Designworks and the Mac
By dlc@frii.com on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 (EST)
I've been using Osmond since its early beta, and it has gotten steadily better. It is the simplest PCB layout program that I've used (and I'ved used PADS pro, Douglass and Express PCB). The interface is clean and neat and very flexible with great hot keys for keyboard operation. The DesignWorks 4.5 Osmond interface is just great. You can do error checking, specifically for Osmond, Netlists and BOM reports. All you need to do is sync up your artwork names with your parts names and PCB design is a snap. Osmond doesn't have auto- routing, but, I've designed dozens of boards on many different systems and I've yet to find one where autorouting did anything sensible. Osmond is worth the price, IMO. DLC
